FSE WELCOMES UEFA’S APPROACH TO SUPER CUP

The UEFA Executive Committee announced today that the 2020 Super Cup will take place in Budapest on 24th September in the presence of a reduced number of spectators.

According to UEFA, up to 30 percent of the capacity of the Puskás Aréna will be made available to spectators, including fans of the two clubs. UEFA intends to use the fixture to “study precisely the impact of spectators on the UEFA Return to Play Protocol.”

In addition, the Executive Committee confirmed that all other UEFA club competition and international matches will continue to be played behind closed doors until further notice.

Football Supporters Europe (FSE) welcomes UEFA’s careful, considered approach to the return of fans to stadia at the European level. As mentioned in previous statements, public health must remain the foremost concern of all stakeholders. We believe that UEFA’s latest proposals are in line with this principle.

Given the challenges presented by the pandemic, we are also pleased that fans of Sevilla and Bayern München will receive the same percentage allocation of tickets as in previous Super Cups and that there has been a significant decrease in ticket prices across the board.

FSE will continue to liaise with UEFA to ensure there is clear, regular, and timely communication on issues that affect fans.
